Another major difference between the RAM 1500 vs. RAM 1500 Classic comes in their engine options. Both come with a standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine and an available 5.7L HEMI V8, but the RAM 1500 comes with three additional engine options: a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine, an eTorque-enhanced mild hybrid 5.7L HEMI V8, and the legendary 6.2L HEMI V8, which is available only on the top-level TRX trim. However, if you don’t want to spring for the TRX trim, you’ll find that the top performance specs for both models are actually the same, although the RAM 1500 can tow 2,000 lbs more than the Classic.
